I got fed up with painting these parts so bit the bullet and had the cam covers & air scoopdone in black chome and the air cleaner in satin chrome & oil filler in bright chrome.

The oil filler was £5, the rest £345 which seemed a bit too steep really.

It took 4 trips to the platers (Midland plating) and they weren't perfect, due to gassing from the small amounts of residual rust.

But no more painting for a bit.

i knew the guy who owned hampton plating, i'm gutted he's gone bust, they were really good at, just the recesion that played that part for them. it had been family run for years and in the finish they just had enough.they were based in birmingham, new sumner street. i could have had so much done!

I recently acquired several sets of cam covers so decided to tidy up a couple of sets. One pair will go onto my Stag this week, the other set is on eBay if anyone is interested: 320536413553

I also have one set from an early Mk1, c/w 3-pronged oil cap. These can be prepped to the same standard.

I have a pair on mine now. They mysteriously turned upside down when my engine was rebuilt ! (Powder coated silver ones they had in stock).
