I keep getting cold calls from Microsoft.com telling me that my home PC security is comprimised and that I must download their applet that will give free access to my computer so I can be scammed.

It is the standard practice for me to shout all responses down the phone but not in an agressive manner, see how long I can string them along for.

anyway they come through weekly now and my response is anything from "are you the police phoning about my stolen PC" to "Sorry not a good time, I am on the toilet!" and "could you call back later? say in about 200 years?"

I also try to sell my car to them or accuse them of having an affair with my wife, all in the best possible taste.

Nothing I can do to stop the *******s so I might as well have some fun

unless you are buying at a major retailer, always use a credit card, not a debit card. If you have a problem its always better to have it on an owed basis ie credit card than your own money/bank account.

it had to happen, I agree with you Graham 100%, there is no protection with a debit card i just can't understand why anyone would use one if they have a choice.

I had that a couple of weeks ago from an 'Indian Subcontinent' gentleman claiming to be from Taxdisconline. About 10 minutes after renewing my car tax through DVLA. I have put in a complaint to DVLA but received a load of waffle back about how secure their systems are, etc.

If you do use the DVLAonline tax disc renewal service, DO NOT ENTER YOUR PHONE NUMBER where requested.

If anyone is up for a right good laugh that will bring a tear to your eye then log onto http://www.419eater.com and click on the letters archive section. Then click on The Tale of the Painted Breast. It's amazing how far some of these Nigerian scam artists will go. This is a classic true story and sooooooo funny. This is scam baiting and the idea is to try get money out of the scammers themselves, who think they are onto something.
