The closest size in 16" would be 185/65, but that doesn’t seem to offer much choice either.
If you want to go wider, there’s 195/60 or 195/65 and 205/60, the latter having the same diameter as 185/80 but plenty of choice.
I’m hoping to get my new tires this weekend, Hankook Optimo KL715 in 185/80R14.

Currently running with 195/70/14 firestones..... seem ok.
Really wish Michelin would make some xvs / mxvp tyres again.
Had to scrap 5 xvs & 4 mxv due to agenot mine, the tyres.
These might be available:-
But Michelin didn't mould any mxv tyres for a very long time as far as I am aware, so even these may be past their date!
£800 odd quid on the steep side of I'll put up with the (new) firestones!
But when I got the 4 used mxv tyres they were £650, quite a long time back, from an ex concours car.
4 'AMG sized' pirellis or michelin or continentals are only £560 fitted to put it into context!Last edited by jbuckl; 12 March 2014, 01:32.There are 2 secrets to staying on top :- 1. Don't give everything away.

I had a big think about what tyres to buy and have studied previous posts on the subject on the Forum. Can be quite confusing as there are many opinions on what to go for. What I have been noticing is that when I come up to the local roadside speed indicators, that flash at you when over the limit, I usually get indicated 33 or 34mph when my speedometer is at 30. Though having the correct specification tyres it was obvious that they had a too large diameter/circumference. With this in mind I decided to go for Vredestien Sportrac5 195/70 R14 91H. tyres which would reduce very slightly the overall circumference. Had a test run over the weekend and my speedometer reading is now only 1MPH out. showing 31MPH when the speedometer is at 30. Some years ago I had the Weslake BMW diff fitted and though I requested the standard ratio set-up I wondered if this modification had any bearing on the speed reading difference.

My tyres were quite old 185 90's x 14,,tread was good depth but they were perishing and the treads starting to come apart, comfy though with that high profile.
So a few weeks ago I bought 4x 175 80 14 88t ,through TYRE SHOPPER very cheap Westlake sp06 and fitted at my local National tyre outlet, who also stock these tyres.
I am very pleased with them, they seem to hold the road very well and are still quite comfy on my local bumpy road full of pot holes(I hope you're reading this north lincs council)
The price for 4 was £159.71 all in inc, fitting, valve old tyre removal.
Note if you go to there web site through http://www.hotukdeals.com/then there are some discount codes, the vc8dun code works, even though it has expired, and gives you 8% off.
I know these aren't performance tyres, but for me, buying budget ones is better than buying expensive ones and throwing them before they're worn out,
I'm happy with them,I checked with the insurance company and they were ok with ''t'' rated tyres, but I would see if this was ok before going abroad though.

p.p. Julian thanks for your recent advice on the armrests, they are going to be ready by the end of the week..
