had a very interesting discussion about headgaskets with Kevin at Favershams, apparently, one of the common suppliers is now supplying gaskets with very little tolerance between the waterway and fire ring, Faversham now source gaskets direct from the manufacturer of Payan Type which are much superior. Sadly, my HG failure was due to this inferior type.

Went to Aldi shopping in mine this morning, got some very appreciative comments in the car park. Just got her back from Favershams this week following headgasket and water pump replacement. Now running like a dream and no longer looks like a steam engine!

Finished fitting a Burr Elm dashboard....and she looks Stagtastic! Also installed LED lights while I had access to all the wiring.........I might actually be able to see what speed I'm doing at nightime now :-)You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Used it today to go to play snooker for the first time since I got it back from the Garage and fitted the missing fan guard.
Was a little perturbed as there was a constant rattle from somewhere behind me when driving the car, and neither I nor my passenger could pinpoint it.
After I got the car home again I checked the car boot, emptying it and re-filling it, and looked around the rear seat area but couldn't at first find anything.
Eventually though spotted that someone (not me - probably a garage mechanic) had opened one of the rear windows of the hardtop and hadn't closed it again properly, and it was this that was causing the rattle when the car was being driven, as after I properly closed it - no more rattle.
Took it for a little run just to make sure and filled up with petrol, and she's running like she used to, sounding marvelous, certainly turned a few holidaymakers heads who were just arriving at the complex over the road.
So nice to be driving the Stag again after it being away for a couple of months, but I've only got 25 days to do so before off on my travels again, and it will be the end of August before I get to drive her again. It gives me something to look forward to though when I return from my holidays.

Made the 50ml trip to Lincoln for the Triumph Marque Day, joining 20+ other Stags on view. "El Presidente" in residence with a good turnout from Derby/Notts group. After our turn in the ring, we were asked to form a backdrop in the arena for other groups turn; sat there for almost an hour getting hotter and hotter(people not the cars!) before going back to our space in the car parks where there was a good breeze. Smooth journey back with the temp gauge hovering around 90. Stag paranoia rules OK

Replaced the pitted and dull aluminium sill finishers with stainless ones. I lost patience trying to polish one up and given the amount of pitting, they were never going to come up how they were way back when I fitted them as a young teenager!
Polished it in preparation for our daughters prom this week.
Went for a pose to Dunelm only to end up chatting with another local Stag owner in his Stag in the car park. Then came home with the temperature gauge bumping just into the red and decided it was time to take the Revotec fan from the boot and fit it to the radiator. I think it'll work better in that location.
