It is disappointing that when I bought one of the speedos from Glenn I wasn't told until afterwards that I'd need to buy a sender as well. "any one of the £1.99 ones from eBay will work" I was told. I've now tried three different ones, none of which work. One more to go, if that doesn't work I'll give up.
I think it gets a little pricey if you buy the speedo and then have to fork out another £60 for a sender. Then you have to make a bracket to fit it to the gearbox!Richard

The sensor recommended by Smiths works. They are available for £52 including postage (arrived next day) from Europaspares.com. Although Glenn and Paul are trying to source a cheaper option. The bracket to mount the sensor to the diff end of the propshaft took about 1/2 an hour to make using some old Dexion. Wiring it up takes a little longer; I soldered and heat-shrunk all the connections. Calibrating it is easy and can accommodate any diff ratios and wheel/tyre combinations.
At last I've got a steady, accurate, speedometer.
I'm not going to name the other vendor on here. If you can't work it out from my earlier post, then PM me. BTW I had my original speedometer overhauled by The Gauge Shop, so I know that was good, but it made no difference.Last edited by DJT; 16 October 2016, 08:22.Dave

Is there a trip facility? I have looked at the manufacturer's website and nothing mentioned.Dave

Did a search of Forum & didn’t come up on much for Electronic Speedo's.
Also did a search on line & came up zero – who did you buy the Unit from ( Glen posted a reply about supplying )
Who as KOY 23 asked, was the other supplier as you gave a negative reply - why was that product not as good ?
Think other Stag Owners would be interested in the Speedo.

This kit is available directly from Holdens http://www.holden.co.uk/displayprodu...&pCode=070.190 where they explicity mention a sensor has to be fitted. I'm guessing that as their other gauges are made to the original Smiths blueprints, then the the black rim could be transferred. The sensor has to be placed very closely to its source (within 1-2mm) so any eccentricity here would be a disaster to the sensor. The gauge is available in Magnolia too. They have inbuilt illumination that you may want to change the colour of to retain the green glow of your other instruments. The total cost is a bit eye watering.

Some months ago I had some work done by a local garage on the underneath of the car - ball joints, steering, track rod ends etc, and when I got the car back I noticed that the steering wheel was not in the correct vertical position when the wheels were straight ahead.
I once before unsuccessfully tried to remove the steering wheel but just now had another a go, and with a little oil and a rubber hammer got it off quite easily, so I have now repositioned it on it's splines so that it is right (I think - but will see when I next go for a ride).
