Yesterday I thought I would complete the dash then realised the hinges for the glove box needed some tlc along with the centre console.

whilst looking for the glove box hinges I found the sun visors , the ironmongery on these also need some tlc

I removed the fittings, stripped the paint and soaked them in a de-rusting solution along with the hinges.

Many hours later the centre console was finished, I had to re-stick the vinyl where it was coming away, rub away the surface rust to the bottom inner face then sprayed black to protect it.

It is surprising how long these little tasks take.!!!!

I’m finding that just looking for a particular part takes forever…..and I thought I’d catalogued everything pretty well!

And when you find it the garage pixies have hidden the tool you need to fit it.

Yep I know what you mean… it took me ages to find the Hinges

I spray painted them late last night.

Back from my holiday, the first thing I did was to collect all the parts from the metal platers. They have only had them since November.

              Yellow and clear zinc

Both front seat frames in clear zinc.

              Chrome plating.
The die cast parts which are alloy (MAZAK) look lovely and shiny but are unfortunately pitted and holed in places. Two horse shoes were cracked so could not be plated.

i fitted the boot lid hinges and boot lid tonight, the boot lid will not stay up on its own. I think I have the same problem as you had when you rebuilt yours.
did you replace the 2 long torsion type springs???

                        Sorry Kev
i must admit I am enjoying the last run in..
we have just bought a house and I now have my hands full with planning and building a new garage so getting time to work on the car is going to be less frequent.

                            Hi dasadrew
not sure what you are referring to, I searched old bootl lid roller topic and nothing came up?

The roller becomes wonky and wobbly and doesn't transfer the necessary force to the boot lid
