Checked voltage to coil and ei module fine. Replaced coil and rotor. Cap looks OK. I have no tools nor a spare sparkplug so cannot test HT side. But the way it died suggests ignition.
I hope it all ended well. Many times I've found that leaving it all to cool down sees the ignition magically spring back into life, some of that electronics can be very sensitive. Looks like it might be a good idea to add just one spark plug to the emergency kit for future testing.

    But it won't make it a V9

Waiting patiently to see if I can get my petrol tank repaired locally, so in the meanwhile measured the "grommet" holes in the boot in order to order some new ones from Paddocks as the current ones have rotted due to petrol contamination.

I did send an email to "Frosts" about the petrol tank repair kit they sell that someone on here mentioned, but I never got a reply - so annoying when people don't acknowledge enquiries.

Contrary to Bob Heritage's comment on the recent "Boot" thread I have no intention of putting a model railway in my boot once I can use it again, and as Andrew has mentioned, I already have my spare wheel in there turned upside down and it holds quite a number of spare parts in the well it creates.

Wasn't aware of the local Clasic Car Show that Graham attended and posted about, and don't recognise the background scenery - where was it?

Hope I can get my Stag fixed before we go on holiday in a month's time as I am quite missing driving the old girl, off to Lake Garda in Italy for a week followed by a week in London to catch some of the Shows, then a few days with daughter and two of the grandkids in Chelmsford.

Took carbs off & apart. Couldnt find zenith stromberg spares box.

Thermac pipes were distorted at the valve ends.... too big.... air leak potential.....fitted new ones.

Found zenith stromberg spares box. Celebrated with a small A.I.P.A. (oxymoron:- American india pale ale)

Changed float valves as there was some fuel wetting on the float bowls.

Changed lower float bowl o-ring as there was some fuel wetting on the float bowls.

Notice float bowl bore was corroded (Ethanol?) cleaned up lightly.

Changed dashpot o-rings, as oil was draining away (smokily)

Relieved pedestal bolt hole to clear small proud tail of helicoil & ensure pedestal isnt held off the manifold.

          Refitted, run up ok.

          Had a glass of shiraz.

          Packed up.

          Had a glass of shiraz.

Any one know the best mitigation for ethanol corrosion in fuel systems?

Answer to the last question - less shiraz?

image.jpgGot to take a little trip up to Romford, so dragged the cover off the Java beast, gave it a wash and checked the levels.

Thought I'd share the joy of looking at the content of my drive, just before the new addition arrives in the next week to take even more space up

It's my 19 yr old daughters MGB auto - the car has been in the family 41 years so seemed a shame to set alight to it - don't worry though, it will be outnumbered 3 Triumphs to one

Took a ride around the block to night, bled the brakes again, re checked the gearbox level (auto), cleaned the fluff off the hood with a lint roller, ready to go when the weather improves. going to rain all weekend in the sunrise county.

I had a one year memory come up on face book showing a day out in the stag with me and my mrs enjoying the sunshine. Two things came to mind . One is the weather is so rubbish. It was raining in west wales at the weekend whilst on holiday.

I looked at my list of jobs to do on the stag, sighed, then put it back in the glove box. I have gone off shiraz, but I do have some merlot.
