Hannah started off as a named driver on Nicola's - that's not an issue as they both drive it - we call it Hannah's car but in truth it's Nics. Footman James offered to insure Hannah in her own right for £850 at 19 and a years incident free driving so a young driver with a classic isn't too difficult as long as they've been driving a year - when the Spitty is on the road, we'll probably do the same and Hannah can take over official ownership and insurance of the MG and Nics will share the Spitty - the current makes more sense as she will go off to uni and won't be taking the car. The MG is not insured as a classic but is currently £700 a year for the pair of themLast edited by GDPR; 10 April 2016, 14:06.

As the Vitesse is a 2 litre, insuring a young lad would be virtually impossible so have picked this up as a solution that suits us all.... as usual, loads of rust to deal with, but we have a couple of years and will be a great father/son project... must get my hands on a rollover spit (pun not intended)

My car, my partner and I went to Hailes Abbey today - (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hailes_Abbey) North on the Fosseway (lovely drive) then home on the M5 (tedium, broken only by the wonderful Gloucester Services Farm Shop). Top down on the way out, that Rimmers screen helps a lot. Why does my Stag not know about the 70mph limit?
Another hundred or so miles after the head gasket / timing chain change.
Oh, and I washed it (for the first time this year) yesterday.

Russ
that brings back happy memories for me, one of the first cars i played with was a pagent blue early spitfire. I took out the 1100 knackered engine and stuck in a 1300 it went like the clappers.
I swapped her for a GT6 but always wanted another spitty
I would love one of them again keep us up to date with pictures etc. lucky lad they are a great motor, so much fun and so easy to work on
all the best

Finished off painting the re roofed conservatory walls, refitted the newly plumbed radiator and got signed off by SWMBO to play.
So off on a drive up thru' Pendle then across towards Keighley then across the moors to Haworth via the Bronte moorland, on to Hebden Bridge then back home via Todmorden and Rawenstall.
Whilst going across moors towards Haworth I passed another Stag coming towards me, a Russet Brown one with a private reg, DVS, I think, a club member?
An excellent 70 mile trip before its out with the 3.7 diff, in with the recon 3.45, adjust O/S/R wheel bearing whilst the shafts free.

How did you weld the pump in? Petrol vapour wise? I assume you didn't experiment with a new tank?
Jeff.I only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!
